Exploiting the desire for promotions and deals, cybercriminals are distributing fake advertisements on the Internet impersonating many famous brands, promising attractive games, gifts, or offers. In reality, these advertisements lure users to fake Google Play or App Store pages to install Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), which then redirect them to online gambling platforms or fraudulent websites.

Bkav Cybersecurity experts advise users:

• Do not click on advertisements on social media without verifying their source.

• Only download applications from the official Google Play or App Store, and do not install them from posts or links appearing in advertisements or on social media.

• Carefully check the domain name, developer, and download source before installing any application.

• Be vigilant with unusual promotions, rewards, or deals, even if they feature images of famous brands.

• Do not provide personal or payment information on websites of unknown origin.
