Warning: Risks of Students Boarding the Wrong Ride-Hailing Vehicle

Recently in Hanoi, incidents have been reported where students mistakenly boarded the wrong ride-hailing vehicle due to carelessness. Such situations can lead to serious, unpredictable consequences. A common scenario occurs when parents book a ride for their child but fail to share the driver’s details, or when the child, being careless, does not properly verify the driver’s information before getting into the car—leaving an opportunity for criminals to exploit.

According to Bkav experts, both parents and students must remain highly vigilant even when a driver appears to know personal details of the passenger. This is because user information may have already been leaked from ride-hailing systems or sold on online black markets.

Parents booking rides for their children should immediately share the trip details, and instruct their child to carefully check the driver’s name, license plate, and photo before boarding. Children should be told not to get into any vehicle if the provided details do not match. Parents are also encouraged to use ride-hailing apps with trip-sharing and real-time tracking features for added safety.

Students should absolutely avoid following strangers simply because they claim, “your parents booked me.”
