Beware of the 'watch short videos to receive commission' scam trap
02:43:00 | 20-10-2026

Scammers approach users via Facebook, Zalo, and Telegram, inviting them to watch short videos, leave "hearts", or vote to receive commissions. Initially, they pay a small amount of money to build trust, then lure victims into buying movie cards, depositing money to upgrade tiers, or increasing accumulated points to earn higher commissions... But when victims want to withdraw money, the system reports errors or requires paying additional fees for "verification", "compensation", etc., continuing to appropriate assets.

Not only do participants lose money, but they may also have their privacy violated and personal data lost when installing applications of unknown origin. This enables malware to collect data, monitor, or compromise personal information on the device.

Bkav Cybersecurity experts advise users to be vigilant:

• Against simple online tasks that promise high income, especially when requiring advance money transfers, depositing more funds to withdraw commissions, or installing applications from unfamiliar links.

• Do not transfer money, provide bank information, or share OTP codes following instructions from unverified accounts.

• When detecting signs of fraud, promptly contact the bank for support and report the matter to the police agency.

• Install antivirus software and comprehensive anti-malware solutions, as the built-in software bundled with operating systems is only designed to meet customers' basic protection needs and is not capable of countering modern ransomware and viruses designed for long-term persistence and deep infiltration into the system.
