Fake support for installing “bank transfer notification speakers” used to take over e-wallets and steal assets

Taking advantage of the demand for installing and using “balance change notification speakers” among business households, scammers impersonate technical support staff and approach victims through social media platforms such as TikTok. They lure victims into installing banking applications, then ask them to provide OTP codes and personal information for verification and service activation messages. After this fraudulent process, the criminals are able to gain control of the victim’s bank account. They then immediately steal all the money and cut off communication.

Bkav cybersecurity experts recommend:

  • Be cautious of technical support offers from unofficial sources.
  • Absolutely do not provide OTP codes or share personal images or identification documents with anyone, especially through social media.
  • Do not install applications or perform operations based on instructions from unverified sources.
  • If unusual signs are detected, quickly lock the account and contact the authorities or the bank for timely support to minimize damage as much as possible.
