You are invited to join an “international” gold investment platform that promises high profits and flexible withdrawals. The system even displays connections with a major U.S. financial institution. In reality, this is a sophisticated scam scenario designed to appropriate participants’ assets.
At first, the scammers instruct victims to deposit a small amount of money for “trial investment.” At this stage, the system displays high profits and allows smooth withdrawals. As the deposited amount increases, the platform begins blocking withdrawal requests under the pretext of “technical issues” and demands additional payments for “verification fees” or “transaction processing.” Each new payment leads to further requests, continuing until the victim can no longer deposit money. At that point, the scammers freeze the account and cut off all communication.
According to Bkav experts, Vietnam currently has no officially licensed online gold trading platforms for individual investors. Online gold investment platforms claiming to be “international” or affiliated with foreign financial institutions may all be fraudulent traps.
To protect assets and avoid scams, people should:
- Avoid participating in online gold investment platforms of unclear origin.
- Do not trust promises of high profits or “guaranteed returns,” and absolutely do not transfer additional money for reasons such as “unlocking accounts,” “verification,” or “transaction processing.”
- When detecting suspicious signs, immediately stop transactions and contact the authorities for assistance.
