The final round of the WhiteHat Grand Prix 06 officially records the KingTigerPrawn from Korea to be the champion. The team also wins the highest award in the WhiteHat Bug Bounty, a sideline competition of the Final round. The 2nd and 3rd position respectively belong to More Smoked Leet Chicken (Russia) and DiceGang (USA).

9:30 a.m., the competition system got activated. Due to the difficulty of the challenges, it took more than an hour for the first team to score. The team from Russia showed the bravery of the defending champion of WhiteHat Grand Prix when it continuously ranked No. 1 in the scoreboard and almost reached victory. However, in the last minutes, KingTigerPrawn successfully solved 2 consecutive challenges to take over the top position, thereby gaining the USD 10,000 award. The performance of the two teams from the host country Vietnam is not very impressive. It took more than 7 hours for, ACEBEAR successfully solved the first challenge. BabyPhD got listed on the scoreboard earlier, but ranked 7th overall.

The competition system in the Final round of WhiteHat Grand Prix 06

Sharing on the technical support channel, 10 teams expressed interest in the challenges of the Finals. Member Reznok of OpenToA11 (USA) said in the last minutes before the competition system closed: "I hope to have more time to explore all the challenges of the IoT Security".

This year, WhiteHat Bug Bounty competition is included in the Final round of WhiteHat Grand Prix for the first time. The result is impressive, with more than 20 security vulnerabilities discovered and reported to the manufacturers. "Proactively detecting and handling vulnerabilities on popular software and important systems in Vietnam will help make the network more secure", said Mr. Ngo Tuan Anh, Bkav Vice President of cyber security.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc - Director of Information Security Department (Ministry of Information and Communication of Vietnam) said: “Contests like WhiteHat Grand Prix are opportunites for cyber security community to practice, share experiences, contribute to building quality human resources. This is a key factor to enhance cyber security”.

WhiteHat Grand Prix 06 has the theme of Vietnam Today, which aims at introducing a modern and on-the-rise Vietnam with achievements of culture, economics, science and technology, etc. The Qualification Round attracted a record number of participants with 739 teams from 84 countries and territories around the world, among whom are teams in the top 10 of the CTFTime. WhiteHat Grand Prix 06 is officially guaranteed by Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications, co-organized by the Authority of Information Security (Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications).
