Stressful exam season: Parents of 12th graders become targets of fraud

Taking advantage of the fact that 12th graders are preparing to graduate from high school and take university entrance exams, needing to complete many procedures and documents... bad guys text and call parents to inform them that their children's exam registration files are incorrect and need to be supplemented urgently within the day.

To create trust, they send a "ward police phone number" to support updating the files. Calling this number, the fake ward police will lure the victim to click on the link they send to adjust the student's information. Accessing the link and performing operations such as scanning the face, the money in the victim's bank account is immediately appropriated. At Hiep Binh High School (Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City), many parents lost tens of millions of VND. Many localities such as Hanoi, Long An, Binh Duong... have also recorded similar scams

Experts said that many parents have fallen into the trap because bad guys have a lot of personal information about their children. When the exam season is about to begin, parents are easily impatient and worried about unexpected events happening to their children's exams, so they often lose their vigilance.

To avoid being scammed, people need to be more vigilant, not provide personal information or perform any requests from strangers over the phone or click on links of unknown origin. In particular, absolutely do not make transfers when the source of the request is unknown.
