Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc: ‘Bphone is the pride of Vietnam’

In the first days of the year 2018, on February 22, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a business trip to Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. Here, the Prime Minister was impressed with Bphone and seemed to have known about the product before. As soon as he heard the introduction of Bkav CEO Nguyen Tu Quang, the Prime Minister said: "This is the pride and happiness of Vietnam" and raised up the Vietnamese smartphone in front of the press and people in the technology sector.

The Prime Minister's visit aimed at conveying the message of the Government of focusing on high-tech development in Vietnam in the 4.0 industrial revolution. This is the third time Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has visited Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park since his taking the office, showing that the Prime Minister is very interested in high-tech development. "The Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister will visit this place to hear about it every six months, it's not just once and for all", the Prime Minister stated clearly. Also attending the visit were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, representatives of the Ministries and Hanoi City People's Committee, corporations and enterprises that have invested and been investing in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.

Talking to representatives of businesses, investors, leaders of some ministries and sectors, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Prime Minister's visit showed political determination and expect in Hoa Lac High-Tech Park. This place was to contribute to the development of Vietnam's science and technology, to build a start-up ecosystem.

Visiting Bkav's booth and handing on the smartphone made in Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated: "This is also the pride, the happiness of Vietnam"!

The Prime Minister stressed that it was necessary to further promote Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in the coming time, making it the best start-up place for Vietnamese high-tech.

Introducing to the Prime Minister about smartphone Bphone, Bkav CEO Nguyen Tu Quang said that Bkav was confident to have mastered the technology, the model design, mechanical design, electronic design, software design, even mechanical molds were also self-fabricated (because Vietnam was not ready to manufacture molds yet, Bkav proactively produced for nearly 10 years to have current achievements).

With Bphone, Bkav has a plan in the next 3-5 years to reach a revenue of 1 billion USD per year. Especially in favorable conditions, Bkav is able to replace imported products and can export to the global market to become Apple of Vietnam.

Bkav CEO also shared that, people often heard that Vietnam seemed like the chef of the world but in fact in the field of cyber security, Vietnam could also be the center of the world. Bkav already had an investment project in Hoa Lac High-Tech Park and the upcoming project was to produce smartphone, with the aim of building a smartphone manufacturing industry owned by the Vietnamese.

"On the occasion of the new year, on behalf of technology companies, we are very thankful to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and delegates for visiting the technology sector, conveying the message that the Government is making great efforts to promote the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. For Bkav, the fields of cyber security, software and smartphone are very potential for Vietnam to become one of the leading nations in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. This field is true for the rule "first come first served" and we can organize in a very methodical and discipline way to lead and catch up with developing countries", added Mr. Nguyen Tu Quang.

After visiting technology booths, the Prime Minister emphasized: "The Minister of Science and Technology must work with network operators to create favorable conditions for this product to be widely consumed in Vietnam and we are very proud that Vietnam has produced 100% - smartphone made in Vietnam".

In the past 1 year, Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park has attracted projects, becoming the place to deploy many high-tech products such as Vietnamese-branded smartphones, drones and security devices of start-up businesses together with mind-controlled devices and IoT, etc.
