Final Round of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018: Onsite in Hanoi

July 31st 2018, the Press conference to announce WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018 named Legends of Vietnam was held in Hanoi. The top 10 teams in Qualification Round will gather in Hanoi to participate in the onsite Attack/Defense Final Round. According to the Organizer, this is the first time a global cybersecurity contest has been organized onsite in Vietnam. It is a phenomena technology contest that is totally held and prepared in Vietnam, everything from organization to challenges.

WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018 is organized by Authority of Information Security (Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications) and WhiteHat.vn Forum. Mr. Nguyen Huy Dzung, Deputy Director of Authority of Information Security said: "Since 2014, under the auspices of Authority of Information Security and sponsor by Bkav, WhiteHat Forum has successfully hosted WhiteHat Grand Prix contests without the need of asking for state budget. Especially, from 2015, this is the only contest held in Vietnam that attracting hundreds of global teams. This is an opportunity to promote a hospitable and cultural Viet Nam to friends all over the world".

The Qualification Round will be a 24-hour online competition from UTC 2:00, August 18th 2018 to UTC 2:00 August 19th 2018 in the form of CTF Jeopardy, with the new scoring method. The score for each challenge will not be fixed but varied by the quantity of successful submissions from competing teams. This mechanism will reflect objectively the difficulty levels of challenges this year.

The onsite-competition Final Round will take place in Hanoi, mid-October 2018. This is an offline 8-hour straight race between the top 10 teams of the Qualification Round. In this round, the challenge of dealing with vulnerabilities on hardware devices will be added to a cyber-security competition.

Mr. Ngo Tuan Anh, Bkav's vice president of Cyber Security said: "WhiteHat Grand Prix brings a message about the country and people of Vietnam to teams after submitting each challenge. This interestingly differentiates WhiteHat Grand Prix from other cyber security contests. The topic 'Hello Vietnam' of 2015 is a greeting to international friends through the beautiful S-shaped land, 'Discovering Vietnam' of 2016 is an invitation to enjoy delicious food in Vietnamese cuisine, 'Vietnam Heritages' of 2017 introduces Vietnam heritages, 'Legends of Vietnam' of 2018 will be a journey to discover legends of Vietnam".

Prizes of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018:

 Grand Prize: 10,000 USD and Champion Cup

 2nd Prize: 2,000 USD

 3rd Prize: 1,000 USD

For top 10 teams joining the Final Round, all accommodation fees and travel expenses for participating in the Final Round shall be covered by the Organizer. From July 31st 2018, teams can register at WhiteHatVN.com.
