WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 is named "Vietnam Heritages". This is the third time WhiteHat Grand Prix has been organized on global scale. This year, WhiteHat Grand Prix will be held on December 16 with the collaboration between Bkav and Authority of Information Security (Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications). The first prize is 10,000 USD.
WhiteHat Grand Prix was first held in 2014 and expanded globally from 2015. In 2016, it attracted more than 500 teams from 52 countries with many teams in the Top 10 CTFTime. Mr. Ngo Tuan Anh, Bkav's vice president of Cyber Security said: "In order to be able to organize global cyber contests, it must be the countries which have the highest level of science and technology in the world. Vietnam can organize a global contest such as WhiteHat Grand Prix which has the number of participating teams increase year by year, this is very special and we're proud of that".
With the theme Vietnam Heritages, participating teams have chance to find out Vietnamese heritages after successfully submitting the challenges. A new thing of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 is that its challenges are designed to estimate the overall expertise of each team. It's necessary for security experts when they work in reality.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 is organized by the cooperation between Bkav and the Authority of Information Security. Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Director of Authority of Information Security said: "WhiteHat Grand Prix is a great environment for teams to practice and enhance their skill. The cooperation between Bkav and Authority of Information Security is a particular action with the aim to diversife the involvement of enterprises; mobilize resources from the society to implement the objectives for human resource development up to 2020 in accordance with the policy of the Government".
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 shall be a 24-hour online contest, starting from 09:00 on 16 December 2017 (UTC+7). Format: CTF – Jeopardy Online with challenges covering Web Exploit, Reverse, Pwnable, Forensics and Crypto. Teams can register at GrandPrix.WhiteHatVN.com.
