Taking advantage of the rapid rise of Pickleball as a popular sport in Vietnam, scammers have created online groups to attract large numbers of participants, then use these groups to lure victims into fraudulent investment schemes.

Shortly after joining an online “Newbie Pickleball” group, a woman in Hanoi was persuaded by another member to invest in a high-return online game. She transferred a total of more than 2.1 billion VND. However, when she attempted to withdraw her funds, the system claimed that her transaction had “violated regulations” and required her to deposit additional money before withdrawal. By the time she realized it was a scam, it was already too late to recover her funds.
