Bluezone application for community protection and COVID-19 prevention, developed by Bkav Corporation in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Communications of Viet Nam, has just been officially launched. Attending the launch event, Viet Nam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated Bluezone as a breakthrough in using technology to prevent and fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was also attended by Viet Nam Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Viet Nam Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, and representatives from agencies, universities and many other technology enterprises.

Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc acknowledged and highly appreciated Vietnamese technology experts and digital technology enterprises for actively participating in the prevention of Covid-19. This is also a common trend that many large technology corporations in the world such as Apple, Google, etc. are doing. Bluezone application is chosen by the Government to introduce and encourage the people to use in Covid -19. In the next few days, Bluezone will be available on App Store and Google Play Store.
Bluezone can be installed on smartphones, helping protect the people and the community, contributing to prevent the spread of the virus. With Bluezone, the authorities can react quickly, accurately and promptly to the situation while the people are assured of their normal life, overcoming unnecessary anxiety and confusion.
Bluezone applies Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. Smartphones that install Bluezone can communicate with each other within a distance of 2m, recording close contact, when and how long. If F0 is confirmed, the competent health authority will enter F0 data into the system. The system will send F0 data to all smartphones in the Bluezone community. At that time, the history of contacts with F0 will be compared and analyzed by Bluezone on smartphones. If there is a match, the application will immediately warn users of the risk of COVID-19 infection. The phone screen also appears with instructions on contacting the competent health authority for assistance. Bluezone can also help alert the people of F2 group (who have close contact with F1).
The principles of Bluezone are confidentiality, anonymity and transparency. The application only stores data on the user's phone, does not send data to the system or collect the user's location. People in the Bluezone community are anonymous to others. Only the competent health authority knows who are infected and who are suspected of infection by close contact with COVID-19 infected people.
Bluezone is developed based on the philosophy of "Protect yourself, protect our community". The strategy to be implemented in the near future is to launch the program "Each individual installs the app for 3 others". According to calculations, in only about 3 weeks, most smartphone users will have Bluezone installed and be protected by the system. Once there is such a community, even those who do not use the app are also protected.
The Ministry of Health of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Information and Communications of Viet Nam encourage all citizens to use Bluezone to protect themselves, their loved ones and people around them, protect the community, and shake hands to fight the pandemic.
